Which Insurance Do You Accept?

What are Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal?
Medi-Cal is a social healthcare plan that helps lower-income households obtain healthcare coverage in California. One side of this healthcare program offers basic dental care. That’s what we call Denti-Cal.
Though these plans do not cover all dental treatments, they are a significant help if other insurance options prove too expensive for your current situation.

What Does Denti-Cal Cover?
Denti-Cal can cover a variety of dental services that will keep your smile bright. Below are treatments that it can cover.
- Routine visit basics: x-rays, fluoride treatment, cleaning, exams
- Prefabricated crowns
- Orthodontics for qualifying children
- Extractions
- Front-teeth root canals
- Prosthetic appliances
- Emergencies
What Services Are Not Included?
While many services are covered by Denti-Cal, it is not a comprehensive coverage plan. The more complex or extensive a treatment is, the less likely it will be covered. Also, purely cosmetic procedures typically are not covered.

- Orthodontics for adults

In every case, Dr. Shodhan will go over your treatment options with you. You will know before any procedure if it is covered by Denti-Cal or not.
Orthodontics (Braces)
Denti-Cal has the potential to provide braces for children aged 13-21. The coverage is determined by the extent that teeth braces are needed. More extreme cases will likely qualify for coverage, while minor misalignment might not.
Dr. Shodhan will evaluate your child’s teeth position and help determine if Denti-Cal will be able to provide coverage for braces.
Am I Eligible For Denti-Cal?
Since Denti-Cal is part of Medi-Cal, you must meet the qualifications for it to be covered. The first step is to be a resident of California, as it is a state-issued coverage. Below are groups who could qualify for a plan.

What is the Annual Cap?
The annual cap for Denti-Cal is $1,800. It is important to know that not all services count toward that cap. Dr. Shodhan will let you know if your planned treatment will before you come in for it.
